The South of France is one of my absolute favourite parts of the world. When I visit, I usually base out of a beach-side apartment in Nice, and then rent a scooter to ride up and down the French Riviera.

The best part about this is you have the freedom to explore all the main spots - Cannes, Monaco, as well as uncovering so many unknown and quite off-the-beaten track beaches and picturesque hot-spots. 

The other day, I was treated to the most crystal clear blue Mediterranean, so I couldn't help but spend the entire day beach-side.

A Long Line of Presentation

I ran into Rose near central park this past weekend.She shared some of the knowledge that she has acquired over the past 79 years. Rose told me, " There was always a long line of presentation. Not one item should outdo another. The pieces should compliment one another, to create one complete picture. This is how it used to be,there was an elegance before. We were working towards the face, everything was meant to flatter the face."

When I asked her why she wears gloves, she simply responded," To protect my hands."

I've always liked wearing hats, from my teenage interest in Fedora that my current standard of a wool Trilby winter, and a Trilby or raffia floppy hat in summer.here seems to be a "hat is back" article in the New York Times every pair months or so, and yesterday's article about how the major fashion designers embrace the hats in their new collections seemed to seal the deal, at least in Guy Trebay mind.
