Having spent a lot of my time in the United States, I can tell you now, I'm no stranger to Free People.

The festive season means party dresses, and this silk ruffled beauty jumped out at me as the perfect celebration piece.

I'm not one to normally jump on red, but 'tis the season and all that jazz. My trusty stiletto heels, a textured clutch, some gold glitz and I'm on my way.

Wishing all that celebrate the finest of Christmas festivities. This year I'm embarking on a road-trip around the East Cost of Australia, you can follow my adventure on twitter & instagram @friendinfashion.

Lumpy

This was one of those outfits that looked great in my ill-lit bedroom, but out in the light of day turned out to be kind of lumpy. That's what I get for layering a thin turtleneck over a stiffly pleated dress. Oh well - I really liked the concept, just not the execution.

Red dress

Red dress

I felt like this outfit was very simple, being comprised of only five elements; but it also felt like there was a lot going on, with the bright dress, unusual boots, and leopard print hat. I got a lot of attention from this outfit at church and Costco on Sunday. I have to admit, I'm a bit of an attention whore when it comes to my clothes. Sometimes I wear things just because I know people will "ooh" and "ahh" over them. Like these boots - they're fun and interesting, but I'd never wear them if I were to spend the whole day at home alone. Shoes like that need to be seen by other people.

Blue boots: Steve Madden (Carnaby heels) from Zappos
Leopard print hat: Albertus Swanepoel for Target
Gold necklace: Dress Barn
Gold bracelet: gift from my mom, from Yosemite

Normally I avoid posting unflattering photos of myself on here, but Josh took this self-portrait of us that's just hilarious, and I had to share it. We have fun together :)

SWEET PASTEL

Join Friend in Fashion on: BLOGLOVIN ~ FACEBOOK ~ PINTEREST ~ TWITTER

Dear friends,

Last night, I slipped into this beyond gorgeous dress, via my favourite Melbourne online boutique, GINGERBREAD SHOP, and headed down to the Alex Perry runway show at the Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival.

The show was characterised, by feminine silhouettes, delicate shoes, perfect pastels and pretty neutrals, which was right up my alley. There is definitely something to be said about lady-like dressing.

Pretty dresses have always been my weakness and this one made me feel like an absolute princess. Pastels, full skirts and metallics, reminds me a lot of Louis Vuitton's, sweet pastel candy campaign!

Tonight I'm off to the In Style runway. Follow me on TWITTER for live updates from the show.
