Gold sandals

I hope all you Americans had a nice Independence Day yesterday! My holiday was spent working for three hours, getting horribly ill, and going home early to spend the rest of the day lying in bed. Yuck.

This was an outfit from a few days ago when Josh and I took an evening stroll (and, naturally, stopped at Salt & Straw - I got the amazing pear and blue cheese ice cream). I just got these sandals from Asos a week ago, and I love them. At first the soles were a bit slick and I was worried they'd be a hazard to walk in, but after a day of wearing them they built up some traction. And for those of you in the market for gold sandals, they're on sale for $12 now!

I realize you can't really see my eyes in this photo, and I tried to fix it in Photoshop but made it worse, so let's just pretend I'm wearing something cool like a superhero eye-mask.

On the fence

I'll be honest with you guys: I'm on the fence about this outfit. There are parts of it that I really like, such as the green on green with the vest over the dress, but then there are parts I feel meh about, like my whole leg area. (I'm thinking knee-high brown boots would have looked better.) But instead of indulging my insecurities and not posting it, I thought I'd ask all of you - what do you think about this outfit? What parts of it (if any) do you think worked, and what do you think I could have done to improve it? (Gosh, I feel like that question belongs on a test or something!) I know most comments that are left on fashion blogs are along the lines of "Great outfit!" but I promise you won't hurt my feelings if you tell me you don't like it :)

What a glorious feeling, I'm happy again

I didn't realize how much I missed the rain until we went about three weeks without it. Yesterday morning I woke up to cool air and rain hitting the pavement, and felt absolutely delighted! This of course meant that I immediately threw on leggings and boots, because like every other fashion blogger I am getting antsy for fall to arrive, and will take advantage of every opportunity to wear something a little cozier. I threw on this t-shirt dress that my aunt gave me the other day to further cozify (not a word, but it should be) my outfit, and added literally every gold bracelet I own to jazz up the otherwise simple ensemble.

I blame any wrinkles in my shirt on the fact that I spent the morning lounging on the couch eating chocolate muffins while watching Arrested Development. (After I went running, of course. I always go running first if I'm planning on eating muffins and watching TV for the rest of the day. It happens a lot.)
