Goodbye, hair

No, your eyes are not deceiving you - I chopped off all my hair! I thought it was finally time to fulfill my dream of looking like Justin Bieber. (I'm kidding - although my hair does kind of look like the Biebster's now.) It's weird and sassy and kind of boyish, but I love it! Plus, it means I can cross #5 off my 30 before 30 list. And it means that doing my hair now takes ten seconds.

I went to Lucas Salon to get it done. I can't say enough good things about that place. Every time I've been there, they've done great things to my hair. If you're ever in the Portland area and in need of a haircut, visit Lucas Salon and ask for Shiloh - she's the one who cut my hair this time, and I loved what she did.

(Don't mind my red earlobe - my ears just don't like earrings sometimes.)

On the fringe

I love this fringe skirt that I got at Anthropologie about a month ago. It feels trendy without being too trendy - I think it's something I'll be able to wear even a few years from now. The only problem is that it sheds, which won't matter later in the year when I can wear it with bare legs, but when I wear it now with black tights, my knees and thighs end up looking all man-ish and hairy. Thank goodness for lint rollers.

And I decided to wear it with a blazer from the 90's because it just felt right. Also because I never had a chance to wear blazers like this when I actually lived through the 90's.

Mended

I forgot to take photos of nearly every outfit I wore over Thanksgiving weekend, so all you get is this fairly simple outfit from Sunday. The dress by itself is pretty but a bit boring, so that's why I threw on the bright scarf as a belt. It's been about a year and a half since I last wore this dress, because one of the buttons came off, and yes, it took me this long to sew it back on. I tend to be a horrible procrastinator when it comes to mending my clothes, and half the time they just end up in the garage sale pile because I'm too lazy to fix them. But ever since I read the book Overdressed, I've taken to working through my mending pile in the evenings, because now I realize it's important to care for the clothes I have, and not just toss them out when they're missing a button or have a hole.

And here are some awesome photos of me and my brothers on Thanksgiving. I'm not sure we've ever taken a "nice" photo together, but we always take fun ones. Here's triple suicide...

Time for a change

It was time for a change, so I dyed my hair brown! My hair has been every natural color except white and gray (and I'm sure those will happen eventually), but it was only brown for a few months back in college, so I thought I'd try it again. I loved my red hair, but it's the dye that fades the fastest and it was just getting too pricey to maintain. I did this on Saturday with two boxes of dye, because my hair is too long and thick for one box, and with Josh's help, because the last time I tried to dye my hair out of a box I missed huge patches.

I suppose it would be cheaper and easier to just go with my natural color, but once my hair turned from pale blond to dishwater blond in high school, I stopped being interested in keeping it natural.
