A Casual Date

On our weekly weekday date night, I like to walk the line between casual and fancy. I don't want my man to not feel like I didn't dress up for the occasion, but I don't want to be making a spectacle out of a diner or hole in the wall bar wearing stilettos and sparkles (especially if our date ends with a long walk and frozen yogurt). I try to wear one amazing piece, like a metallic skirt, and tone it down with weathered booties.

Travelin'

I've become quite the traveler this past year. My work now includes it on at least a monthly basis. It's necessary to be comfortable when flying; however, I usually have to go into work before or after my flight, therefore, it's still necessary to be business casual. I always dress in light layers like a chambray shirt, utility jacket, and fur vest. No matter the temperature in the cabin, you'll be ready for it. I also wear a loose fitting or stretchy dress/skirt rather than pants that will wrinkle or a tight waistband that will dig in while you're sitting. And to ensure that I'm not walking around barefoot through security, tights in the winter or ankle socks in the summer with booties are my pick. Lastly, this tote has completely changed my traveling experience since it expands to the size of a carry on, thereby still making it acceptable with my Samsonite to not require any checked baggage!

Spring Fever

It might be because I am in North Carolina this week and it's a balmy 65 degrees, but I'm thinking spring! It's time to retire my tights and and recreate any of these warmer weather outfits...who's with me?

Smells Like Teen Spirit

Graphic tee with a few (intentional) holes. Flannel shirt untucked and unbuttoned. Slightly worn leather accessories. At face value, these items combined could be considered grunge, but after closer inspection, you'll notice I added some glam with sparkle, a red lip, and snakeskin.

Strike a Cord

I thought I was done with corduroy. I am over bootcut styles in general, and a flared option felt way too Grateful Dead for me. Then, I entered Loft. These skinny cords are the softest, comfiest, flattering-est pair of pants I have ever put on my behind. Considering I bought two pairs (featured in yesterday's post) and the website shows that they've received over 100 positive reviews, I suggest you hit up your local store and pick up a pair...or two.

Sequin Your Day (Part II)

A more casual yet glam interpretation for the sequined tank - boyfriend jeans, high tops, statement necklace, and a blinged out utility jacket. It was perfect for burgers and drinks at DMK with the girls!
See my work ready outfit with this tank here!
