Katie talks about their Thanksgiving plans!
“We’re going to be in Los Angeles and I’m not a big cook so I usually go to the flower mart in downtown Los Angeles and I make up for my lack of cooking with a good presentation,” Katie told Martha Stewart as she filmed an appearance for Tuesday’s “The Martha Stewart Show.”
The actress, wife to Tom Cruise and mom to Suri Cruise, said she does have a meal ready too, but she’s not usually behind the preparation.
“I make sure the fixings are there I just don’t tell how they got there,” Katie explained.
There is one thing, however, Katie does make – pumpkin bars.
“My mom started a tradition where she makes these amazing pumpkin bars — almost like a pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting, but it’s not too spicy. In my family we travel so much and we’re constantly living in hotels, so my daughter and I have been in the living room of the hotel with powdered sugar going everywhere making this to keep up the tradition,” the “Jack and Jill” actress said.
The "Jack & Jill" star tells Martha Stewart in an episode of "The Martha Stewart Show" airing Tuesday, November 15th.

Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes plan to splash out £13,000 on a CIRCUS for daughter Suri's fifth birthday party.
There will be elephants and giraffes parading at their £21million home in Beverly Hills, California, on April 18.
And actors will be dressed up as characters from Suri's favourite book, Alice In Wonderland.
A pal said: "Suri loves Alice so they're going to deck out their home exactly like the fantasy.
David and Victoria Beckham, who live nearby, have been invited to take their three sons along.

>>in the next couple of weeks we will get much more speculation stories about Suri's BD party... just let me know, when you are tiered of this BS... :)
Suri Cruise may be the most indulged child in Hollywood, so it's no surprise that her mother Katie Holmes is planning a rather lavish affair for her upcoming 5th birthday.
Speaking on a Ryan Seacrest's US radio show on Monday, Katie, 32, said: 'Suri's turns five in about two weeks.
'She wants a piñata and her girlfriends to come over, and some swimming.'
'We're going to make a cake together,' she adds. 'We're going to have a little tea party. I kind of like to girl it up.'

Listen the full interview:
When Suri Cruise was photographed holding a box of adult candy at New York restaurant Serendipity 3 recently, it created a lot of questions and publicity. Katie Holmes sets the record straight and explains the incident on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, to be aired this Friday.
“Recently, I took her to get ice cream in New York at this place called Serendipity that we go to all the time,” says Holmes. “It’s for kids. The clientele is children.”
She continues, “We go in and we are waiting for a table and she grabs some gummies that are boy part gummies. I was horrified.”
When asked by DeGeneres what she meant by “boy part" Holmes replies, "P-e-n-i-s gummies. I said, oh wow, those aren’t Swedish fish.”
By then, it was too late. The paparazzi already were snapping photos of Suri holding the box.
Holmes says, “I was like, why are they selling these here? This is for kids. And then it was on the cover of a magazine that I’m giving her those gummies. Yes, they were taking photos of it. I was like, oh my God, no. We put them back.”

Katie Holmes spends most of her time on the road traveling – but she's learned to navigate the nomadic lifestyle and maintain a homey feeling wherever she goes.
One of her tips for making daughter Suri Cruise, who'll be 5 in April, feel at home no matter where they are? "Bring lots of crayons, glue good paper and you can turn any room into a very warm, familial place," Holmes, 32, tells to Women's Wear Daily.
Holmes – who travels for her own career as an actress, to promote her fashion line, Holmes and Yang, and to be with husband Tom Cruise – says one of her favorite hobbies is doing arts and crafts projects with her little one.
"My husband got me a sewing machine for my birthday," Holmes said, adding that she likes to get Suri involved. "My mom grew up making curtains and pillows and everything, and it made our home very warm, so I like to do things like that with my daughter."

Katie looks Chic & Classique in this ad - exactly what Ann Taylor represents!
article from PopSugar:
Katie Holmes strikes a pretty pose in her first ad as the new face of Ann Taylor. She joined her The Romantics costars for a J. Crew photo shoot last year, but this time the February Elle cover girl is all on her own looking pretty in navy blue. Katie spoke of her new role to WWD saying, "I applaud women who are doing their best to be the best versions of themselves and who are working really hard. And I’m glad that there is a store like Ann Taylor that can offer amazing styles for the many different roles that women play." She also gushed a bit about her own love of the brand, telling Hollywood Reporter, "I've been a fan of Ann Taylor since I was a young girl — I grew up loving the clothes. I'm thrilled to be a part of a brand I believe in." Katie's miniseries The Kennedys may never air in the US, but most of you would love to watch her take on iconic Jackie O as the actress also continues to cement her stylish place in the fashion world.
Katie Holmes graces Elle‘s February cover.
Behind The Cover story:
Cutting her Thanksgiving weekend short, Katie Holmes arrived for her Sunday morning ELLE cover shoot channeling her most talked-about alter ego since Joey Potter. In March, she’ll play fashion’s favorite first lady, Jackie Kennedy, in the History channel’s first scripted miniseries, The Kennedys. From the looks of things, she picked up a style secret or two from her character; her ultrachic Isabel Marant lavender short-sleeve sweater and black cropped pants telegraphed the elegance of a modern-day Camelot. Holmes was happy to step into something a bit friskier, though—her shoot was inspired by the dark, sexy drama of the 1992 Japanese movie Tokyo Decadence.
When Holmes’ iconic family arrived at the L.A. studio, four-year-old Suri got to work helping her mom dress up in looks from Stella McCartney, Phillip Lim, and her own Holmes & Yang label. Meanwhile, husband Tom Cruise sneaked off to admire the selection of vintage and fine jewelry for the shoot, admitting that he was on the hunt for the perfect gift for his leading lady. Soy latte in hand, Holmes dialed up Michael Jackson and Beyoncé on her iPod and watched Suri and Cruise play tag, the little one waving to Mom between giggles. Later in the day, designer Tom Ford, who was shooting in a studio nearby, dropped in to say hello; after he left, Holmes donned a body-con backless dress from the designer’s new collection. Her look was a long way from the sweet girl from down the creek.
ELLE interview:
On working hard to perfect her role as former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy: “I worked as hard as I could, because I loved her. On set there was this feeling that we had to create something very special, because these people were very special.”
On playing such a complex role:“[The Kennedys] were like movie stars. There was such a professionalism to their public image.”
On admiring Jackie Kennedy’s strength: “I didn’t realize that she had lost a child in August and then [Jack] was assassinated in November. I couldn’t believe it. She had so much strength….I loved her love of family, how important it was for her to be a good mother.”
On the design process for her clothing line, Holmes & Yang: “I have such an appreciation for the fine details and the amount of work it takes. I really appreciate clothing and designers so much more. It’s made shopping even better.”
On decorating: “I like to create a nice table. I love roses and orchids and French tulips and berries, and then a lot of things that are just pretty and I have no idea what their names are.”
On Suri’s shopping style: “The other day we came out of a store, and she said, ‘I want to go there,’ pointing at another store quite a distance away. In that store was the dress that she wanted. I said, ‘Wow, Suri. You’re something. You picked that out from a football field away.’”
On getting fashion advice from Suri: “She’ll really tell me [what she thinks]. Like today I’m wearing brown suede pants, and she said, ‘I don’t like your pants.’ But then she’ll say, ‘You’ve got to wear these shoes.’ Or ‘That’s so pretty, Mom. Wear that.’ She’s got a great eye.”
On not letting the attention from the paparazzi get to her: “I don’t worry so much. It is what it is, and it’s fine. I’ll go somewhere because I need to get something done.”

Suri Cruise wants to be a singer like her idol Willow Smith!
Suri Cruise has shocked and worried her knackered mum Katie Holmes by asking when she can have her own music and movie career.
Worried Katie, 31, has told friends she's terrified that Suri's growing up too fast.
The four-year-old diva in the making, who counts Armani and Burberry as her favourite labels, has a whopping six wardrobes to house her clothes, which include a £1,300 D&G fur coat and a £1,800 pair of custom-made Louboutins, bought by Katie this summer.
But after saying she wanted her own fashion collection, precocious Suri has now turned her attentions to her ‘big BFF', Will Smith's daughter Willow, and is desperate to have a singing career like hers.
The Cruise and Smith families have been friends for years and since 10-year-old Willow signed with Jay-Z's Roc Nation record label this year and her debut single "Whip My Hair" reached No 11 in the US charts, insiders say Suri is growing impatient and is desperate to copy her idol.
‘Suri trails round after Willow whenever she sees her,' reveals a family friend.
‘She's four going on eight and she knows exactly what she wants. She loves Willow's song and is desperate to start getting in front of the camera herself.'

Suri & Shiloh: The Nannies Tell All!
At just four years old, both Suri Cruise and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt are already living like Hollywood royalty. But for the little princess and the rough and tumble tomboy, life couldn't be more different! One plays with diamonds, the other, with dead animals. And who would know better about their polar opposite lives than the people who care for them?
In the Nov. 29 issue of Star, on sale now, insiders from the Cruise and Brangie camps reveal the most intimate and shocking secrets of Suri and Shiloh's totally different lives. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' daughter Suri "never hears the word 'no,' from a nanny or anyone else," a source explains. Whether it's a priceless diamond tiara or cupcakes at midnight, spoiled Suri's wish is her overworked staff's command!
But taking care of tomboy Shiloh, the daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, presents a different set of challenges. Though she's a sweet girl with a heart of gold, Shiloh has a serious mischievous streak that often gets the better of her. As we report in this week's issue, the wild child collects dead animals, plays childish pranks on unsuspecting nannies and cuts the heads of sister Zahara's dolls! "She was playing cowboys and Indians once and she said she had to scalp them," an insider reveals. "Brad made her apologize."
To Have and To Hold .. My Magazine

I decided I wanted a copy of this for myself and the easiest way to do this (aside from the going in and fluttering eye lashes at an optician asking for theirs) was to find my own copy within old issues of fashion magazines. I had set myself a mission and became obsessed with not resting until I found a copy for myself.
Eventually my obsessive (and perhaps somewhat compulsive?) mission was a success and I had found what I was looking for. Not bad going!
With time on my hands and finding myself sitting on my floor surrounded by current and old issues of fashion magazines, I then leisurely spent time flicking through the publications (without reading every article or I would still be there!). Some aspects of shoots and fashion I remembered from reading the first time around and for others it was nearly like reading a new (albeit marginally outdated) magazine! A relaxing few hours of old school fashion entertainment, inspiration and me time … in a way I wouldn’t mind doing it again … right now!
There has been an ongoing debate of online versus ‘real’ magazines and the issue of which is better. Sure there are pros and cons for each but my vote undoubtedly lies with real magazines you can hold in your hand. With being able to spend as much time as you like flicking through old publications, tearing out pictures (perfume samples) and articles the real magazine wins hands down, especially in the knowledge that this cannot be replicated with online magazines. Shakri Amirkhanova in Pop Magazine SS 10 joined in the debate and her opinion is an ideal analysis of it;
“… magazines have always been a perfect medium for the synergy of talents and collective vision that influences the ways we think and love – the true barometers of our times, as relevant as history books.”
Well said …
I’m off to surround myself in old magazines again …
How Suri Cruise Celebrated Her 4th Birthday
Suri Cruise had a sweet 4th birthday! Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' daughter celebrated her big day on Saturday with a cupcake party at her Beverly Hills home. Her actual birthday was Sunday.
They ordered more than four dozen unfrosted cupcakes from Sprinkles -- plus vanilla and milk chocolate frosting so the tot could decorate them.
Suri loves sweet treats. In March, she ditched a dance class to go on a chocolate run with her mom.
Last year, Suri turned three with a trampoline party in Beverly Hills.
