Chambray for the Workday

A chambray shirt might be more notably worn tied at the waist over a maxi dress or casually tucked into denim cut-offs for your weekend fun; however, with a pencil skirt, ladylike pumps, and a jacket, it can add some fun to your business casual attire, while still fitting in to the dress code.

Skirt Suit

Even though I passed on the pill box hat (in favor of a cameo brooch), I felt very Jackie Kennedy in this skirt suit. The boucle texture and boxy, collarless jacket is incredibly ladylike, form fitting, and timeless while still serving a professional function. After all, Mrs. Kennedy herself did say, "There are two kinds of women: those who want power in the world, and those who want power in bed." I feel like in this skirt suit, you can be both!

Da Bomb

It is no secret that I'm a fan of jackets, so it was only a matter of time before I branched out from blazers to the bomber. I saw this one on the Forever 21 website and knew it would make a nice addition to my closet. With the graphic yet subtle pattern, it will mix beautifully with other patterns and textures. Plus, the thin and silky material can transition into the warmer months when I still have to wear sleeves inside the office. To really drive home the purchase? I saw this article on Who What Wear. On trend and on budget? That's da bomb!

A Sign of Growth

The combination of it being dark when I come home, my fiance starting work before I'm ready, and a non-DSLR camera have led to an overall feeling of underwhelm with the photographic evidence of my outfits as of late. I guess this is a sign of growth in my expectations of this lil blog, as pictures inside the halls of my office building were accepted as the norm this time last year. I can't well expect my co-worker (and current paparazzo) to brave the chill and take time out of her lunch hour to take my picture. Therefore, I must upgrade to an instrument that can capture the beauty of texture, shine, and pattern in fluorescent lighting. Any recommendations?
