DOMAINE CHANDON SECRET GARDEN PARTY

White Suede dress / Aldo heels / Chanel clutch

Yesterday, my husband and I had the pleasure of attending Domaine Chandon's Secret Garden Party, in the picturesque Yarra Valley.

The picture perfect afternoon was spent enjoying Chandon’s finest vintages, delicious culinary treats (of which included these very pretty 'edible pot-plants'), the beautiful voice of Clare Bowditch and of course some garden twister, croquet and chess.

A scene taken straight from The Great Gatsby.

A big thank you to Domaine Chandon and Undertow Media for such a stunning afternoon.

Finders Keepers dress / Back Stage arm cuffs / Tiffany rings / Thierry Lasry shades

Prints, florals, pastels. This dress, from Aussie label, Finders Keepers is an all round winner.

As someone who loves fashion, it's always fun to layer and experiment with over-styling an outfit, but sometimes, a pretty dress and heels is all that's required.

Manning Cartell party dress on Friend in Fashion Manning Cartell party dress on Friend in Fashion Manning Cartell party dress on Friend in Fashion Free People Party Dress on Friend in Fashion Manning Cartell party dress on Friend in Fashion

It's official - this exclusive Manning Cartell pencil dress is THE party dress for upcoming New Years Eve celebrations.

In-fact, this dress would be perfect for any celebration at all.

The cut, with bustier detailing is ultra-feminine and the beautiful digital floral print, thigh high split and apricot trim is too perfect for words.

Glamour to a tee.

Young or old

I'm currently embracing florals and sandals with all my heart, because I know they're going be packed away to the back of my closet in about a week when it gets cold and rainy. I bought this dress a year ago, and this is the first time I've worn it. I don't feel so bad about that, because it only cost me a couple bucks, but I still don't like letting my clothes sit around unworn. But this dress is so dang girly. I just didn't know how to wear it. It's comfortable, and the print makes me happy, but I can't decide if this dress feels too young for me. I hate that I've reached an age where I sometimes look at a piece of clothing and wonder if it will make me look too young. (Obviously that didn't stop me from wearing it, though!)

SPRING FLORAL

Emma Jane Designs on Friend in Fashion Emma Jane Designs on Friend in Fashion Emma Jane Designs on Friend in Fashion Emma Jane Designs on Friend in Fashion

So not a lot of words describe just how much love I have for this floral wrap dress, via Melbourne designer, Emmajane.

Perfect spring colours, the most flattering cut, plus pretty ruffle detailing - dress perfection.

I've just landed in a very humid Singapore, and am really looking forward to shopping up a storm along Orchard Road, and convincing myself that seven meals a day is completely acceptable.

Food in Singapore is just that good people!

65 degrees

It was fairly chilly outside on Sunday, so I put a sweater over my dress, and when I went outside I found myself wishing I had tights on. I think it was only 65 degrees (so not actually that cold), but when you're used to 85 degrees, 65 degrees feels like tights weather! I love summer, but I will admit it: I miss layering.

I can't believe I only posted on this blog twice last week - I think that's the least I've posted since I started this thing more than a year ago. Even though my new tax class only takes an extra 12 hours a week, that's still 12 hours of free time I don't have anymore, and I've had to re-evaluate my priorities. I've been focusing on doing my favorite things in my free time, which means reading and hanging out with Josh, and maybe once I get used to my new schedule I'll be able to start catching up on all the blog reading I've missed.

Crazy hat lady

This hat is almost comically huge, but I love it because it means I don't have to put sunblock on my face and neck when I'm out in the sun. (Okay, let's be honest here: I almost never wear sunblock anyway, so basically the hat just makes me feel better about that.) The gigantic hat plus the bold printed dress plus the bright shoes made for an outfit that felt on the verge of overkill, but it also felt very fun and summery. This is one of those dresses that would be improved upon if I hemmed it up about six inches, but I have so many dresses that I've been meaning to hem that I've been overwhelmed into procrastination.

Thank you all for your lovely comments on yesterday's post. You were very sympathetic, kind and flattering, and I appreciated it :)

I looked too funny and horrible in this photo not to share it...this is what happens when someone whistles at me while we're taking outfit photos...

Free spirit

We're back to regularly scheduled programming around here! This is my first outfit post since returning from vacation. Don't worry, most of my posts this week are outfits - I only have one packing post (and even that one has all my vacation outfits in it) and one post of vacation photos scheduled.

I felt very bohemian in this outfit, with the headband, wavy hair, and flowy dress. The blazer kind of toned down the free-spiritedness, but I didn't wear it much anyway because it was quite muggy outside.

Blending in

Josh said this cardigan makes me look normal. Any of you who have read this blog for more than a few weeks should know that I would generally much rather look interesting than normal, but lately I've been wanting to add more neutral clothes to my wardrobe. When all your cardigans are colors like hot pink and bright blue, it's kind of hard to work them into a variety of outfits. I found this gray cardigan at Gap last week for $8, after Danica was nice enough to let me know that the store near my house was closing and having some killer sales. And you know, I really liked how this cardigan mellowed out this enthusiastic dress. A hot pink cardigan may make me feel like a teenager - which is fun - but a gray cardigan makes me feel like an adult.
