Soon Enough

I swear that on Monday this outfit was appropriate! It's hard to imagine having an overcoat on (even just over my shoulders) with the sun blazing in Chicago today. This is the kind of day that I wish I could go Oak St beach with a gin & pineapple in one hand, a good book in the other, with my fiancé by my side. Soon enough, Jenny. Soon enough.

A Full Peplum

When peplum first came on the scene, people were skeptical. Now, this silhouette is every where and I'm overjoyed (as I indicated in this post). However, I'm a bit bored with only pairing a peplum top with a pencil skirt. Why not a full skirt? Double the flare, double the fun! That's what I always say...

Two Ways To Wear...

...a plaid blazer!

First, we have the edgy way. A jean vest and leather jeans call to mind the Nirvana era while a metallic tee and leopard loafers keep me from looking like Courtney Love.

Second, we have the preppy way. A silk scarf, wide leg trousers, and bow topped pumps topped with a peacoat make it look like I just stepped out of a Ralph Lauren store.

Skirt Suit

Even though I passed on the pill box hat (in favor of a cameo brooch), I felt very Jackie Kennedy in this skirt suit. The boucle texture and boxy, collarless jacket is incredibly ladylike, form fitting, and timeless while still serving a professional function. After all, Mrs. Kennedy herself did say, "There are two kinds of women: those who want power in the world, and those who want power in bed." I feel like in this skirt suit, you can be both!

300

I have worn these waxed, coated, leather-like jeans many times, like double digits, yet they've never been photographed...even though they're so photogenic! Seems only fitting that on a countable post (my 300th), I wear such an "every day" outfit - blazer, roomy tee, skinnies, and flats. No pattern mixing, no backwards cardigans, just a few items that we can all feel comfortable wearing.

The Perfect Red Dress

After receiving this dress as a Christmas present, I have worn it three times. Once with a flannel underneath and knee high boots (for Christmas Day), once with a crewneck sweater over it and leopard flats (for a 1st birthday party), and like this (for the work day). It's comfortable, versatile, and flattering - a triple threat. I can't wait to see how it with more layers as the temperatures drop.

Cherry Garcia

When it comes to cool treats, I have a few favorites that I don't stray far from: vanilla soft serve with sprinkles, pistachio gelato, and Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia frozen yogurt. I have a strong aversion to melted ice cream, so unless it's frozen almost solid, texture is necessary. These options have the chunky additions of sprinkles, nuts, cherries & chocolate chunks help to make it feel less...soft, smooth, and liquidy. While most recently I've had more of the pistachio variety, I can remember many a night spent studying physics during my junior year of high school indulging in a pint of Cherry Garcia. I should do that again soon...without the physics.
