Stars of track and field

It's official, I must admit, I've come down with a bad case of Olympic fever. I had great fun picking up on all the lovely details of the opening ceremony and since then the TV has been on all day. Well, until I flew off to the antipode* and now I've been staying up late and getting up early to catch the fringe events and making do with replays for the rest of the day. So far I've been watching a lot of rowing and gymnastics, rowing because that's just what New Zealand excels at and gymnastics because it's so much fun to watch. Who doesn't love amazing trampoline flips? What sports are your favourite at the Olympics?

(*just making a note that I wasn't actually in Spain. My inner pedant requires that this point is cleared up.)

So in honour of the Olympics, I took a few silly photos (I hesitate to call it a photo shoot though). The outfit is a little reminiscent of a cheerleader but that's sports related too, so no harm done. As far as skating sports go, I'm more of a field hockey girl myself; a nice angry sport for de-stressing. I'm not sure what it is about this skirt that makes me pair it with skates, perhaps it's a little ice-skater-y, all I know is that it's flippy and fun in the wind. Lastly, all hail my newest skates. I'll admit now that I have an obsession but these beauties are so wonderful.

This week's bonus photo: me and my coach, George.
