Versatility

For months I have been looking for the perfect light-colored lace dress. It was more difficult to find than I thought. First, it had to be free-flowing. (Meaning no built-in belt/strip of fabric at the waist like this one.) Second, it had to be cream-colored or beige. Third, it had to be long enough - short dresses always end up being too short on me because of my long legs. And finally, I really didn't want to pay more than $40 for it. I searched and searched and searched, and accumulated a whole folder of bookmarks on my browser of lace dresses that were almost perfect. Then one day I visited my friend Lauren's blog and saw her wearing The Perfect Lace Dress. As soon as I found out it was from H&M (and only $35), I practically ran down there and bought it on the spot.

As soon as I get a new piece of clothing I go stand in front of my closet and try it on with everything that will go with it. It's my way of stockpiling outfit ideas in my head. And this dress goes with everything. It goes with all my scarves, practically all my tights, and most of my cardigans and sweaters. It looks good with heels, boots like the ones in this post, and knee-high riding boots. It looks awesome with long wool coats and vintage men's army jackets. It can be dressed up or dressed down. I can make it edgy with a black leather jacket and boots, or sweet and feminine with some heels and pretty jewelry. In short, this dress is now the most versatile piece in my closet, and you will be seeing a lot of it :)
